▪       The Club recognises that with a mixture of ageing members who have health and other priorities and with younger players who have work commitments, reserves are essential for us to field full sides.

▪       We must have enough players available at selection time to cover each side.

▪       Recent statistical data shows that with squads of 20 [Saturdays] and 16 [Tuesdays] we can field 3 sides in each competition.

▪       For 2024/25 we were many players short on Saturdays and even by appealing to emergencies we struggled to field our 3rd side.

▪       We appeal to all players to keep discretionary unavailability to a minimum and will continue to seek new recruits to ensure our ability to field 3 sides.

▪       The Selectors at their weekly meeting on Tuesday afternoons will select the next round’s teams from all committed players UNLESS they have entered their names in the unavailability book located near the notice board OR unless they have notified a Selector or their Side Captain (refer to “Roles and Responsibilities”) by phone, text or email that they are unavailable.

▪       If their period of unavailability is unknown they should indicate “unavailable until further notice” OR if known, should indicate the date when they will become available.

▪       Players who have declared their unavailability at selection time, will not be included as a late selection other than in exceptional circumstances.

▪       Players who withdraw after selection should do so only in exceptional circumstances [eg health issues], as it may require the Selection Committee to reconvene for changes to more than one side.

▪       Other than in exceptional circumstances, players who have declared their unavailability for one or more Finals games, at the discretion of the Selectors, will be considered for selection, but may not be selected in future Finals games.
