1.         Eligibility

Members may enter for all events except that a member may not play in the:

a.     Singles or Pairs Championship of more than one Club as set out in the provisions of Bowls Victoria Rules for Competition 2014/2015 [Rule 2C]. This refers to members of more than one Club.

b.     Minor Championship who:

i.                Has won a Club Singles competition at the Club

ii.          Has been bowling for more than 5 years (in total)

2.         Draw

The Board, over a number of years, has made the championships more attractive and accessible to less experienced bowlers.  The men’s and women’s pairs partnerships are fixed by a draw to be carried out at the same time as the draw for playing opponents.  Players are only allowed to nominate their playing partners for mixed events.

3.         Arrangements and Schedule

Arrangements of matches for all Club Competitions will follow the following procedures:

a.     All rounds must be completed by the designated dates shown on the top of the draw sheets.

b.     The first named player/pair has the responsibility for arranging a match.

c.     If, on the designated date, the unavailable player/pair cannot get agreement from their opponent for an extension, they will forfeit the match.

d.     If the match cannot be completed by the designated date, the player/pair by mutual agreement, and with the consent of the Convenor or Bowls Director, may arrange an alternate date to be played not later than one week after the designated date.

e.     If a match has not been completed within one week after the designated date, a coin toss by the Convenor or Bowls Director will be used to determine the winner.

f.       If the Convenor or Bowls Director has reason to believe that only one player/pair has made a reasonable effort to complete the match, it may be awarded to that party.

g.     The losing player in a singles match should make him/herself available as marker for the next round, and should post the result on the draw sheet on the noticeboard.

h.      For Pairs matches, if a player is unable to compete due to health reasons, a substitute will be allowed for the first two rounds.  However, it is expected that the substitute would then continue in the tournament.

i.       Players must observe the Bowls Australia Laws and these rules.

j.       All scorecards must be signed at conclusion of the game and lodged with the Match Convenor.

k.     There is provision for a two end roll up which may be waived by agreement of both sides.

l.       Any dispute, together with scorecards, must be lodged with the Match Convenor within one hour of the completion of the game.

m.    In a singles match, the jack must be rolled each end and players arrange for a Marker.

4.         Proportional Handicap

a.         Ten points to be scored between players for each end and allotted thus: Four for the bowl nearest the jack, three for second bowl, two for the third bowl and one for the fourth.

b.         The mat is held by the player with the nearest shot bowl, even though he/she may not score the most points.

c.         The winner is the player with the highest score after all bowls have been delivered in the end when one or both players reach 100.

d.         In the event of a tie, an additional end or ends will be played.

e.         The lower handicapped player will start off at “0”
